CHATTOGRAM: A woman handed over her son to police for stealing a motorbike in the port city on Saturday night.

Police said Momtaj Begum, a cleaner of a primary school, tactfully caught her son Tuhin when police went to her house in Ashkardighir parh area to arrest him.

“Later, she (Momtaj) handed over her son to the law enforcers,” said Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station.

Tuhin, 22, an auto-rickshaw driver, is a drug addict, the OC said, adding that a case has been filed with the police station in this connection.

One Ashfaq went to Tamakumandi Lane, keeping his bike under lock and key on the road in front of Hawkers’ Market.

But, he didn’t find the bike after his return. Locals said that a youth took away the bike by a rickshaw.

As Ashfaq lodged a complaint, police launched search and indentified location of the stolen bike.

Later, the law enforcers conducted a drive at the house of Tuhin in Ashkardighir Parha area of the port city.
