Prime accused arrested

CHATTOGRAM: Members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday arrested the prime accused of the murder of a bkash agent from the port city.

The arrestee was identified Abdur Rahman, 40, son of Abdul Gofur of village Golabaria at Muksudpur upazila under Gopalganj district. He is owner of two shops ‘Messrs Riad Enterprise’ and ‘Hawlader Enterprise’ at ‘Navy Welfare Market’ in the city’s EPZ area.

 Besides, the victim Bijoy Kumar Bishwas also ran a shop of bkash at the same market.

Special Superintendant of Police Shahnewaz Khaled of CID, Chattogram said Rahman and Bijoy had close friendship as they ran their shops at the market.

 Rahman borrowed Tk 1.5 lakh from Bijoy on condition of providing Tk 7,000 to nine months back, he said.

As Rahman didn’t pay the money, Bijoy forced him to pay his money, said the officer.

 At one stage, Rahman called Bijoy to his shop and strangled with a wire of internet, he said.

Later, he packed the body in a bag with the help of his staff Nasir Uddin and left it away at ‘Alif goli’ in city’s Pahartali area on October 15.


Following the incident, the victim’s brother Sanjoy Kumar Bishwas filed a case in this connection.


Drives were going on to arrest Nasir, added the CID officer.
