The first-ever Digital Trade Week 2020 organised by Merchant Bay received an overwhelming response from the industry partners.
More than 400 suppliers have expressed interest in business aspects offered by Merchant Bay in the digital space, among them 150 registered in the platform, said a press release.During the trade week, 300 buyers from 40 different countries connected to gather information about the products, pricing, and other issues of the suppliers in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Dr Rubana Huq, Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) Bangladesh Representative Yuji Ando, Merchant Bay Managing Director Abrar Hossain Sayem attended the event.
Dr Rubana Huq emphasised on taking maximum advantage of digital trade in Bangladesh’s context.
Yuji Ando highlighted Japan’s trade target of $5 trillion by 2027. Abrar Hossain Sayem said, “We hope that with your prayers and support, we will be able to continue our progress and organise Digital Trade Week every year.”
Five live panel discussions were also held throughout the trade week. Several experts from seven countries besides Bangladesh took part in those discussions.
