The Department of Pharmacy of East West University (EWU) arranged a webinar recently.
A Bangladeshi-American Professor Dr Ruhul Abid of Brown University, USA, joined the programme and presented his keynote paper titled "Transforming health care delivery for the underserved and displaced populations," said a press release.Dr Abid and his non-profit organisation, Health, and Education for All (HAEFA), have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year.
In his speech, Dr Abid appreciated the initiatives of the government in achieving many of the Millennium Development Goals.
Professor Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, chief adviser, EWU and a former Bangladesh Bank governor, connected to the programme as the chief guest while Abdul Muktadir, chairman and managing director of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Suvas Singho Roy, a leading Pharmacist-journalist, were present in the event as the special guests.
Professor Dr Chowdhury Faiz Hossain, chairperson of the Department of Pharmacy of the university, chaired the programme. Faculty members, officials, students and alumni of EWU also attended the webinar.
