SC prohibits legal practice of lawyer

The Supreme Court (SC) has prohibited legal practice of senior advocate Md Eunus Ali Akond for two weeks for posting derogatory comment about the judiciary on his facebook account. 

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Sunday.

The court’s attention was drawn to the facebook statement by Additional Attorney General Murad Reza.  

The court suspended advocacy enrollment of Eunus Ali Akond for the period under review. Eunus Ali Akond has been advised not to practice law in any court for two weeks. The apex court also directed Eunus to appear before it at 9:30am on October 11 to clarify his facebook post.

The court ordered the Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission to immediately remove the derogatory posts of Eunus Ali Akond from Facebook and to block him on the social site, said Murad Reza.
