Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) had set a target to bring a total of 1, 26,000 hectares of land under T-Aman paddy cultivation this year, officials said, reports BSS.

But, T-aman paddy cultivation exceeded its target land by 2050 hectares till September 15 due to favorable climate condition during the current season.

The transplanted seedlings of Aman paddy have already grown well and the paddy fields turned into greenish look. The growers are so much busy in nurturing the paddy field with the hopes of getting desired production of the crops this season.

In order to make the cultivation programme a grand success, Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation distributed high quality Aman seed to the farmers of the district at fair prices through its sale centers and approved dealers, sources said.

Besides, DAE also distributed seedlings of late variety of aman paddy produced on the community, floating and tray seed beds at the management of the DAE officials to flood affected farmers of the district this season.

Apart from this, different state run commercial banks including Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) are disbursing agri loans on easy terms to the poor and marginal farmers of the district to help them cultivate the T-Aman on their land this season, said an official of RAKUB here.
