Police arrested a local Awami League (AL) leader in the capital on Monday night in a case filed by former minister and incumbent MP Quamrul Islam on charges of leaking the audio clip of a conversation between the lawmaker and the AL leader.
The arrestee is Ali Ahmed, vice-president of Ward No. 56 of Kamrangirchar Thana Awami League and also a cable operator.
A team of Serious Crime Investigation Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police nabbed him, said Nazmul Hasan, senior assistant commissioner of the Division. The case was lodged with Kamrangirchar Police Station on September 12 under Digital Security Act. Another accused in the case is journalist Kanak Sarwar.
