Freelancers to get digital identity card

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the government will provide digital identity card for freelancers working in different online workplaces.

Addressing a virtual meeting on freelancing career on Sunday night, Palak also mentioned freelancers are the driving force for heading towards knowledge economy.

Mentioning that youths are the strength of the country, the state minister said active freelancers will get virtual identity card with the privilege of financial institutions and hi-tech parks.

There are around 0.65 million freelancers working from Bangladesh with different international platforms, including UpWork and Freelancers.

Recently, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina appreciated the activities of freelancers and recommended for proving institutional recognition for the virtual human resources.
