MP Ruhul visits the site of damaged Matlab dam

CHANDPUR: The embankment of the Meghna-Dhanagoda Irrigation Project in Matlab Uttar Upazila of Chandpur has been damaged in the Kacharikandi area on Friday. Local youths are working in a voluntary shelter with the help of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) to protect the embankment.

Chandpur-2 MP Nurul Amin Ruhul visited the area on Saturday. He instructed the senior officials of BWDB to take necessary measures to protect the dam.

Additional Director General (Eastern Region) of BWDB Kazi Tofail Hossain, Chief Engineer (Eastern Region) Zahir Uddin Ahmed and Executive Engineer of Meghna-Dhanagoda Irrigation Project Mamun Hawlader, among others were present during the inspection.

Zahir Uddin Ahmed, chief engineer (east) of BWDB, said, the Meghna had broken 150 meters in the Matlab Uttar Janata Bazar area. The Meghna-Dhanagoda Irrigation dam is at risk. Necessary steps have been taken to protect the dam.
