McMillan denies taking role of Bangladesh team

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said on Saturday that their newly appointed batting consultant Craig McMillan will be unable to take up the role for the team’s upcoming tour due to a loss in the family.

The former New Zealand batsman replaced South African Neil McKenzie for a short stint (proposed three-match Test series against Sri Lanka) but could not make it eventually as he lost his father recently.

“Craig has communicated to us that his father has passed away recently and therefore, it would not be possible for him to take up the batting consultant’s position of the National Team for the upcoming tour at this moment of grief,” said BCB chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

“We fully understand his situation. Our sympathies are with Craig and his family during this difficult time,” he said adding that they will be looking for a replacement in the coming days.
