TK 50 lakh interest-free loans disbursed to poors

BRAHMANBARIA: Bashundhara Foundation has distributed Taka 50 lakh interest-free loan among the extremely poor families of different villages in Bancharampur upazila of the district under the direction of Maynal Hossain Chowdhury, Advisor (Treasurer) of Bashundhara Group and Publisher of East West Media Group.

The loans were provided among 517 families in the last 10 working days by maintaining social distances.

Of these, 68 new borrowers were given loans of Tk 7,500 each and 449 old borrowers were given loans of Tk 10,000 each. This loan money is completely free of interest and service charge.

At present, Bashundhara Foundation is providing this loan facility to the poor and disadvantaged people in 80 villages under 12 unions of Bancharampur upazila and 1 village in Nabinagar upazila.

In order to alleviate poverty, interest free loans will be provided to all the villages of Bancharampur, Nabinagar and Homna upazilas.

The extremely poor and disadvantaged people of Bancharampur upazila are taking interest and service charge free loan from Bashundhara Foundation and investing the money in 32 small economic activities and gradually becoming self reliance.

Since the inception of the foundation, Taka 15 crore 2 lakh 5 thousand have been distributed among 19,106 borrowers under 32 schemes.
