Salahuddin, Murshedy, Imrul buy nomination papers

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) incumbent President Kazi Salahuddin, senior Vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy, Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hasan bought the nomination papers for BFF Election at BFF House in the capital on Monday.

BFF President Kazi Salahuddin who has bought the nomination paper in a bid to retain his seat said in his immediate reaction, “If I’m not confident, I wouldn’t have taken part in the election.”

Abdus Salam Murshedy brought nomination papers for the post of senior Vice-president. Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hassan bought nomination papers for the post of BFF Vice-president. The organiser who is famed for bringing in the efficient methods of the corporate culture into Bangladesh’s footballing arena voiced his determination to contribute to bring back the golden days of Bangladesh’s football.

“Yes, I have brought the nomination paper. It is part of my efforts to contribute to the overall development of Bangladesh football,” said Imrul. But incumbent BFF vice-president Badal Roy and Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd Head Coach Shafiqul Islam Manik pulled out the biggest surprise as both of them bought nominations for the post of President against incumbent BFF President Kazi Salahuddin who also bought nomination on the same day.

Besides, Mohammad Aslam bought nominations for senior vice-president post while incumbent vice-president Kazi Nabil Ahmed, SM Abdullah Al Fuad, Md Amirul Islam Babu and Md Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan Manik bought nominations for vice-president. Apart from these, a total of 23 nominations for executive committee members posts were sold on the day.  Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi and Tabith Awal bought nominations for vice-presidents on Saturday while Bangladesh Police FC President and Additional IGP Sheikh Mohammad Maruf Hasan bought nomination for vice-president on the second day on Sunday.

BFF confirmed that a total of 49 nomination papers were sold in three days of nomination distribution including three for president, two for senior vice-president, eight for vice-presidents and thirty-six for executive committee members.

The three-time BFF President Kazi Salahuddin also announced his 21-member panel titled ‘Sammilita Parishad’ at BFF House on the day.

Candidates for president, senior vice-president and one vice-president remained unchanged. They are: Kazi Salahuddin, Abdus Salam Murshedy and Kazi Nabil Ahmed. Kings President Imrul Hasan, current ex-co member Amirul Islam Babu and Chairman of Toma Group Md Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan Manik are three new VP candidates from the panel.

Harunur Rashid, Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir, Mahfuza Akter Kiron, Satyajit Das Rupu, Md Ilias Hossain,  Bijon Barua, Md Iqbal Hossain, Amit Khan Shuvro, Mahiuddin Ahmed Selim, Jakir Hossain Chowdhury stayed put with Salahuddin while Syed Riazul Karim, Kamrul Hasan Hilton, Imtiaz Ahmed Sabuj, Md Asaduzzaman Mithu and Nurul Islam Nuru are new member candidates in the panel.

Shamsul Haq Chowdhury and Saleh Jaman Selim were introduced as chief coordinator and co-ordinator respectively.

The much-awaited BFF election and congress will be held on October 3 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. The 139 councillors will be able to exercise their franchise to form the 21-member BFF Executive Committee, including President, senior vice-president, four vice presidents and fifteen members.

According to the schedule, objections to the nomination papers and scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on September 9 and 10 respectively. The last date of nomination withdrawal is September 11 while the final list will be published on September 12.
