British minister, MPs pay homage to Bangabandhu

British minister and MPs paid homage to Bangabandhu at a programme organised by Bangladesh High Commission in London on Saturday, marking the National Mourning Day.   

The high commission observed the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day by holding a discussion where participants paid homage to the Greatest Bengali of All Time.

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury attended the event as the chief guest while Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland Saida Muna Tasneem presided over it. 

Political Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister HT Imam and UK Minister for London and Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Labour Markets Paul Scully were the guests of honour at the programme.

Chair of the UK Labour Party Angela Rayner, British MP Rushna Ara Ali, also the chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Bangladesh and the UK's Trade Envoy for Bangladesh, and eminent journalist Abdul Gaffar Choudhury, joined the webinar as the special guests.

A large number of expatriate Bangladeshis from the UK, Ireland and EU countries joined the webinar and paid tribute to the Father of the Nation and the martyrs of the 15 August tragedy.
