UP chairman held in Dhamrai

DHAMRAI: A Union Parishad chairman was held with 35 sacks of rice, allocated for the government’s relief programme, in Dhamrai upazila on Wednesday.

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Mizanur Rahman Mizu, Jadabpur UP chairman and a local AL leader during a drive.

Confirming the matter, RAB-4 company commander ASP Jamir Uddin Ahmed said police raided his house in Amchimor area and seized 35 sacks rice,  which was allocated from PM’s relief fund for destitute people.

A case is being prepared to file with Dhamrai Police Station in this connection.
