Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday arrested three people, whose names were mentioned as witnesses in the case filed by police in connection with the murder of Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

The arrestees are Nurul Amin, Nizam Uddin and Md Ayas. They were detained from Marishbunia area in Teknaf.

RAB Director (Legal and Media Wing) Lt Col Ashik Billah said they arrested the three persons around 2:00pm in connection with Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder case filed by Sinha’s sister.

“We will produce the arrestees before a Cox’s Bazar court with a prayer for 10-day remand for each of them to interrogate them about the murder,” said Cox’s Bazar RAB-15 Deputy Commander Major Mehedi Hasan.

The three were made witnesses in the murder case filed by arrested Sub-inspector Nanda Dulal Rakshit after Sinha was shot dead at a police check point on Marine Drive on July 31.

Earlier, the arrested witnesses had told the media that they had not witnessed the murder.

They were called to the local police outpost after the incident. Later in the morning, according to them, a white paper was signed

at Teknaf police station. Then, they came to know that they have been made witnesses.

After the killing, police arrested Sifat, who was travelling with the retired major, at the spot while Shipra was picked up from a local resort. The duo was accused in two different lawsuits — attempted murder and narcotics cases.
