Two Gazipur hospitals fined Tk 1.1m

Two hospitals in Gazipur city were fined Tk 1.1 million on Monday, as they were running without licences.

The taskforce formed by the health ministry raided the two hospitals — City Medical College Hospital and Sheba General Hospital and Diagnostic Centre — in Chandona of the city.

The raid was led by Executive Magistrate of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Md Sarwar Alam. Joint Secretary (Hospital) of the health ministry Umme Salma Tanzia and Company Commander of RAB-1 Porabari Camp Lieutenant Commander Abdullah Al Mamun were present, among others.

Abdullah Al Mamun said the executive magistrate fined City Hospital Tk 0.75 million (7.5 lakh), as they did not have licence and kept expired medical equipment.

Sheba Hospital were fiend Tk 0.35 million (3.5 lakh) for having unhygienic atmosphere and keeping expired medical equipment.
