Top-ranking officials of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) pose for a photo before a transport aircraft of BAF leaves for Beirut in Lebanon on Sunday.

A transport aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) departed for Beirut in Lebanon on Sunday with approximately 2 tons of medical supplies, 8 tons of relief items and 2 tons of spares for victims of the horrific explosion on 4 August.

The mission consisting of a 12 BAF Air Crew was led by Group Captain Santanu Chowdhury of Bangladesh Air Force.

Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat provided necessary guidance to carry out the mission. Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) Air Vice Marshal M Abul Bashar briefed the media on the occasion.

Emergency medical supplies, a physician and a technical team to assess the situation of the damaged naval ship led by Rear Admiral Mohammad Mozammel Haque were sent to Lebanon.

On the way back, the BAF C-130J aircraft will carry some Bangladeshi nationals living in Lebanon. The aircraft is scheduled to return home on 12 August.

It is expected that the humanitarian support from Bangladesh will further strengthen the existing friendly relations between the two countries.
