Bangamata remembered at missions abroad

The 90th anniversary of birth of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed in more Bangladesh missions abroad.

As part of the programme, the Bangladesh embassies, high commissions and consulates in different countries held discussion on life and work of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, screened a documentary on her pre-independence struggle alongside Bangabandhu, readout of the messages of the President and Prime Minister, offered special prayer and cut the birthday cake. Reports received from Bangladesh embassy in Washington DC, Bangladesh permanent mission in UN, Bangladesh embassy in Beijing, Jordan, Greece, Brazil, France, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Bangladesh Consulate in New York and other missions observed the day in a befitting manner.

Speaking on the occasion, Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Mohammad Ziauddin flashed back on how Bangamata devoted her entire life to look after her own family and recalled her wisdom and farsightedness and advices to Bangabandhu at critical times.

While paying deep tribute to Bangamata, Md Shameem Ahsan, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria said that her ideology would always remain as a source of inspiration for all Bangalee women.
