Thirty-nine more people died of coronavirus infection while 2,977 new cases have been detected across the country in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning.
“Some 2,977 new cases have been detected in the last 24 hours raising the total number of patients to 2,49,651 across the country,” said Baizid Khoorshid Riaz, director at National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine of DGHS.He came up with the information at a regular online health bulletin from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) headquarters at Mohakhali in the capital on Thursday.
Some 20.38 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus while 1.32 percent patients died. The recovery rate is 57.61 percent. The current case detection rate is 23.43 percent.
Among the 39 deceased, 32 were male and seven were female while nine were between 51-60 years old, 13 between 61-70 and seven were 71-80 years old. The others belonged to younger age groups.
He said 2074 more people made recovery from the disease in the last 24 hours while a total number of the recovery cases stands at 1,43,824 in the country. So far, a total of 2,49,651 coronavirus infection cases have been detected against 12,25,124 samples tested at 83 labs across the country, he added.
The DGHS official said 13,189 samples were collected and 12,708 tested at 83 labs across the country in the last 24 hours.
The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 while the first death was recorded on March 18 in Bangladesh.
