Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque directed the officials concerned to monitor the field activities and supervise it closely after visiting the flood-hit areas as soon as possible to recoup farmers’ losses.
“The affected farmers are gripped by uncertainty during the floods. Effective measures are needed to bring down the losses after the flood water recedes,” he said. The minister was addressing a virtual meeting with the staff of the ministry after the Eid-ul-Azha on Tuesday.The government has already formed 14 committees to accelerate the monitoring and cooperating activities, including disbursement of fertiliser and seeds. The officials concerned of the ministry will have to work alongside the committees.
The committees have started supervising the incentive package of the government to keep up the food production and reduce the losses of the farmers in 38 flood-affected districts.
Additional secretary Md Hasanuzzaman, additional secretary (admin) Arifur Raman Apu, and additional secretary (research) Kamalaranjan Das were present.
