Bangladesh National Cricket Team players had a rare opportunity to meet renowned South African coach Gary Kirsten in a virtual session on Wednesday.
National cricketers have had a few virtual meetings with Tigers Head Coach Russell Domingo and members of the coaching staff during the ongoing pandemic.Former India coach Kirsten agreed to impart his knowledge to Tigers at the request of his compatriot Domingo.
Kirsten provided inputs regarding different aspects of the game and according to cricketers it was a fruitful experience. “He spoke about different things and we hope that his suggestions will help us in the long run,” said a cricketer on request of anonymity when asked about the hour-long discussion.
Bangladesh cricketers were not complete strangers to Kirsten as he had several meetings with the leading Tiger cricketers after being appointed by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as a consultant and had overseen the selection of Steve Rhodes as head coach in 2018.
Following a break of a couple of months, a few of the Bangladesh national players have started their individual practice at BCB's facilities across the country amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Even prior to that, the national players had been participating in online meetings seeking the guidance of Domingo, Daniel Vettori, Otis Gibson and others as well.
