Ctg reports no deaths

CHATTOGRAM: As the pandemic reached new highs across the country, the port city has given a glimmer of hope with zero deaths for the second time after ten days on Sunday.

On the same day, at least 107 people were detected positive for corona at the five testing centres in the district and Cox’s Bazar.

However, a deputy commissioner (DC) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) died of Covid-19 at Central Police Hospital in Dhaka on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Md Mizanur Rahman, DC of Detective Branch (South) under the CMP. He was an officer of 22nd batch of BCS police cadre.

CMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (public relation) Mirza Sayem Mahmud said DC Mizan was admitted to the Central Police Hospital with corona on June 28.

Later, he was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) as his condition deteriorated, he said.

Mizan breathed his last at 3:40am, he added.

With this, five members of the CMP have died of Covid-19.

Chattogram district Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that 597 samples were tested at the five labs and 107 of them were positive.

A total of 278 persons are now at isolation, 819 at home quarantine and 42 more patients recovered from the Covid-19 on the same day, he added.

Mentionable, a total of 11,597 persons were detected positive for corona while 216 of them died and 1,397 recovered in the port city till Monday.

The Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Disease, Chattogram General Hospital, Chattogram Medical College Hospital, Chattogram Field Hospital, Holy Crescent Hospital, Railway Hospital, Maa-Shishu O General Hospital, Bangabandhu Memorial Hospital and eight private isolation centres are providing treatment to the corona patients in the port city.
