Thirty-nine more people died of coronavirus infection while 3,099 new cases have been detected in the last 24 hours till Monday.
A total of 2,391 people died of the deadly bug while 1,86,89 people have been infected with the virus across the country so far.So far, a total of 98,317 corona patients recovered from the disease across the country including the latest number of recovery cases.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Additional Director General Prof Dr Nasima Sultana made the disclosure while speaking at a regular health bulletin from DGHS headquarters in the capital on Monday.
Of those died of the virus so far in the country, 1,195 were from Dhaka division and 623 from Chattogram, she said.
The current case detection rate is 24.95 percent, total detection rate is 9.61 percent and the recovery rate stands at 52.61 percent while death rate stands at 1.28 percent, the official said.
Of the 39 deceased, 30 were male. Of them, 19 were from Dhaka, five from Chattogram, one from Mymensingh, two from Rangpur, two from Sylhet, seven from Khulna and three were from Barishal division. Of them, one was between 0-10 years old, one within 11-20, three between 31-40, six within 41-50, 13 between 51-60, 11 between 61-70, three within 71-80 and one was 81-90 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
Some 12,358 samples were tested against 12,423 collected during the last 24 hours. The tests were done at 77 labs across the country, Dr Nasima said. Bangladesh registered the first corona infection case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.A total of 118th days have elapsed since the first case detected in the country.
