Two more die, 192 get infected

CHATTOGRAM: Two more patients died of the deadly coronavirus in the district on Friday, taking the death toll to 214 so far.

Besides, at least 192 more patients have tested positive for Covid-19 at the seven existing testing centres in Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar on the same day.

Of them, 158 patients are from the city and the rest from different upazilas in the district.

Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said a total of 1,099 samples were tested at the seven labs and 192 of them were found as positive.

A total of 289 people are now at isolation while 797 at home quarantine in the district, he said.

Besides, five more patients recovered from the covid-19 on Thursday, added the civil surgeon.

Mentionable, a total of 11,385 persons were detected as corona positive while 214 of them died and 1,318 recovered in Chattogram district till Saturday.

Of the patients, 7,953 are from the city and 3,432 from different upazilas in the district.

The Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Disease, Chattogram General Hospital, Chattogram Medical College Hospital, Chattogram Field Hospital, Holy Crescent Hospital, Railway Hospital, Maa-Shishu O General Hospital, Bangabandhu Memorial Hospital and eight private isolation centres are providing treatment to the corona patients in the port city.

Mentionable, Bangladesh on Saturday registered 2,686 more new cases of the novel coronavirus amid a sharp fall in fresh infections in the last 24 hours, raising the national tally to 181,129.

The country also witnessed fewer deaths than Friday’s as it recorded 30 deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
