A Dhaka court on Friday placed Tariqul Islam alias Tareque Shibli, a close associate of Regent Hospital chairman Shahed, on a three-day remand for interrogation in a case filed over issuance of fake coronavirus certificates from the hospital.

Metropolitan Magistrate Morshad Al Mamun Bhuiyan passed the order after Police Inspector of Uttara Paschim Police Station Md Alamgir Gazi, also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.

Earlier, RAB arrested Tareque Shibli in a drive conducted in Nakhalpara area of the capital on Thursday in connection with the case.  On July 6, Rab conducted separate drives at the Uttara and Mirpur branches of Regent Hospital and arrested eight people on charge of issuing fake coronavirus test reports in addition to charging the admitted covid-19 patients with exorbitant fees.

A Dhaka court on Wednesday put seven of the eight arrestees on a five-day remand while the rest one was sent to Tongi Juvenile Correction Center as he is below 18.
