Three ‘human traffickers’ arrested

RAB produces three members of an international human ‘trafficking ring’ before journalists on Thursday after arresting them from the capital’s Naya Paltan area. Inset, 254 passports were seized from their possession.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three members of an international human ‘trafficking ring’ in relation to their alleged complicity in sending 38 Bangladeshis to Vietnam illegally.

A team of RAB-3 nabbed them from Mash Carrier Services in Purana Paltan and JK Overseas Ltd in Naya Paltan of the capital on Wednesday. The trio is Jamal Uddin alias Sohag, 34, Kamal Hossain, 39, and Jamal Hossain, 37.

The elite force also seized 254 passports from the possession of the arrestees.

Lt Col Rakibul Hasan, commanding officer of the RAB-3, disclosed the information to journalists in RAB Kawran Bazar media centre on Thursday.

The officer said a preliminary investigation led them to find out that Mash Carrier Services, JK Overseas Ltd, Advent Overseas Ltd, M/S Sandhani Overseas Ltd and Al Noman Human Resources Ltd sent the 38 Bangladeshis to Vietnam through illegal channels.

Of the 38, 11 returned to Bangladesh while the rest is stranded in Vietnam.

Rakibul said in addition to the agencies, Abdul Jabbar, Mostofa, Golam Azam Sumon, Kalpana, Azmir, Milon, Shovon and Atiq, who are Bangladeshi brokers in Vietnam, were implicated in the crime.

During preliminary interrogation, the three confessed to their involvement in trafficking the Bangladeshis to Vietnam.
