Spurious fish feed factory unearthed in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Local administration has unearthed a spurious fish feed factory at Silmaria Bidirpur village under Puthiya upazila in the district on Saturday, reports BSS.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Muhammad Waliuzzaman conducted a mobile court in the area and found Asadul Islam, 43, son of Wazed Ali, manufacturing, possessing and marketing counterfeit fish feed in his house.

Subsequently, the court convicted him and sentenced to one year jail based-on circumstantial evidence.

It has also destroyed raw materials and ingredients used for manufacturing the spurious feed valued around Taka 3.5 lakh from the factory that has also been shut instantly.

‘We will conduct more mobile courts against all sorts of malpractices in the days to come for the greater interests of public health,’ he said, adding the law violators will be brought to book.

Divisional Director of Health Dr Gopendra Nath Acharya said using contaminated and toxic feeds in the fish farming is always harmful to the public health.
