Asian Football Confederation (AFC) listed the late winner netted by Dhaka Abahani’s Afghan booter Masih Saighani against Indian Club Minerva Punjab in their list of ‘Last Minute Winners’.
Dhaka Abahani reached the Inter zone playoff semi-finals of AFC Cup 2019 for the first time beating Punjab by 1-0 goal in their final Group E match. In the 93rd minute, Saighani buried the ball into net with his close-range header, after Hiatian striker Kervens Belfort headed back the ball across goal utilising a corner by Nabib Newaz Ziban. Abahani ended on top with 13 points from six matches, followed by another Indian side Chennaiyin FC with 11 points.AFC posted a short video of that match-winner and wrote: “With India's Chennaiyin FC winning in Nepal, Abahani Limited Dhaka needed to defeat another Indian side, Minerva Punjab, to become the first Bangladeshi team to progress to the AFC Cup's knockout rounds.
Things did not look good with the deadlock yet to be broken and the game well into injury time. Step forward Masih Saighani. A deep corner from the left was headed back across goal and the Afghan international headed in from close range to book Abahani a place in the Inter-Zone semi-finals.” The other four goals in the list are: A 89th minute set piece by Singapore's Home United’s Stipe Plazibat against Philippines' Global FC in the ASEAN Zonal semi-final in 2017, A close range header by Amjad Radhi of Iraqi club Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya against Syria's Al Wahda in West Asia Zonal final in 2017, a volley from Addison of Indonesian club Persija Jakarta against Vietnam’s Song Lam Nghe in the Group H match of AFC Cup 2018 and a close range grounder by Mihail Titow of Turkmen club Altyn Asyr against Tajik FC Istiklol in the Group D match of AFC Cup 2018.
