Waive duty on corona treating items: CCCI

CHATTOGRAM: Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) President Mahbubul Alam on Tuesday urged the finance minister to waive all kinds of duty and tax for importing the medical items require for treatment of Covid-19.

The CCCI president, in a letter, also requested the Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal to pave way for getting the items delivered on priority basis from the port.

In the letter, the business leader said many items were added to the medication system following outbreak of the pandemic and changes were also brought in maintaining the day to day health safety measures.

As the death toll and number of patients are increasing, the medical and health safety items including high-flow nasal cannula, ventilator, cardiac monitor, oxygen cylinder, corona testing kit, PPE, mask, face shield, goggles, pulse oximeter, oxygen meter and sanitiser are being imported, he said.
