4 held with NBL missing money

Detective Branch (DB) of police nabbed four ‘muggers’ on charges of stealing Tk 8 million from a microbus of the National Bank in the capital.

A team of DB (South Division) under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested them raiding various parts of the capital Monday night and recovered Tk 6 million and two firearms as well as two bullets from their possession. They, however, have already spent Tk 2 million.

The arrestees are -- Hannan alias Robin alias Rafiqul Islam, 50, Mohammad Mostofa, 52, Babul Mia, 55, and Parveen, 31. Mahbub Alam, joint commissioner (DB) of the DMP, provided the information for media on Tuesday. On May 10, a sack containing Tk 8 million went missing from the microbus of the bank when it reached Islampur branch in the capital.
