Eight women footballers of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) passed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination from humanities groups from their respective education boards this year.
The booters are: Defender Akhi Khatun, Defender Shamsunnahar, Forward Sirat Jahan Sopna, Defender Anai Mogini, Defender Rituporna Chakma, Forward Sajeda Khatun, Forward Rehana Akhter and Midfielder Mahfuza Khatun. Among them, Akhi, Shamsunnahar and Sopna represent Bangladesh national team while the rest of them played for age-level teams.“I had to skip my exam last year for the Under-16 championship qualifiers in Myanmar. But, I am very much happy now and have distributed 10kg sweets. It was really tough to concentrate on study alongside three-time practice sessions in a day … I want to study up to university level,” said Akhi, who also played for Bashundhara Kings in women’s league along with Shamsunnahar, told to media on Monday.
The girl from Sirajganj failed to attend the exam last year due to the AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers round-2 held in Myanmar.
“I’m distributing sweets among the guest. All are happy as I passed. I wish to continue my study and football side by side,” said another booter Anai Mogini from Khagrachari.
