The highest number of Covid-19 recovery cases has been reported in the country in a day with 22 people dead and 2,381 infected with the deadly virus.
“A total of 816 patients made complete recovery from coronavirus and got release in the last 24 hours till 8am on Monday,” said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).She came up with the information while addressing a regular health bulletin at the DGHS headquarters at Mohakhali in the capital.
The DGHS official said and 22 more people died of the disease and 2,381 new infections have been detected during the period. Test reports of 11,439 samples were received from 52 labs across the country while 13,104 samples were collected during the period, she added.
Prof Nasima said a total of 10,597 people have so far returned home from different hospitals after their complete recovery from Covid-19 disease.
Among the deceased, 19 were males and three females, she said, adding that 11 were from Dhaka, eight from Chattogram, two from Sylhet and another from Barishal.
A total of 449 people were kept in isolation in the last 24 hours, she added.
The DGHS official said the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh has stood at 49,534 with 672 deaths so far.Around 320,369 samples were tested in the country to diagnose the disease.
She said 55,465 people are staying in home quarantine, 3,671 in institutional quarantine and 6021 in hospitals and other isolation.
