NTV journo Mustafa Kamal dies of corona

Private Television Channel NTV Chief of programme Mustafa Kamal Syed died of coronavirus at a city hospital on Sunday afternoon.

He was 75.

A former deputy general manager of Bangladesh Television Mustafa Kamal Syed was undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in the capital after testing positive for the virus and others old age complication, NTV chief news editor Zahirul Alam confirmed the media.

He left behind his wife- renowned singer Zeenat Rehana, daughter Rehnuma Kamal Ahmed, a news presenter in BTV, son Rehan Syed who currently lives in USA; son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren and host of relatives, friends  and well-wishers to mourn his death .

Later, Mustafa Kamal Syed was laid to rest at Banani graveyard in the capital following the Covid-19 burial protocols.

Known for his musical productions like Kichu Kotha Kichu Gaan hosted by Abdul Hadi and Gaan Guli Mor hosted by Ferdousi Rahman, on NTV, the seasoned producer started his journey with Pakistan TV's Dhaka wing in 1967. He went on to work with Bangladesh Television (BTV) and retired as a deputy director general from the channel in 2004.
