97 firefighters infected with corona: FSCD

A total of 97 officers and employees of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) have been infected with coronavirus till Friday.

Of them, 10 persons have recovered while the remaining 87 are kept in quarantine, according to Md Shahjahan Sikder, officer-in-charge (media cell) of Fire Service Headquarters.

Among the infected people, 17 are from the headquarters (Siddiquebazar fire station), 19 from Tejgaon fire station, 9 from the office branch of the directorate, 9 from Sadarghat fire station, 11 from Hazaribagh fire station, 6 from Dhaka Central Control Room, 6 from DEPZ fire station (Savar), 8 from Savar fire station, one from Lalbagh, one from Mohammadpur fire station, two from Manikganj fire station, four from Chattogram Lama fire station, one from Demra fire station, one from Khilgaon fire station and two from Postogola fire station.

The infected people have been kept in institutional quarantine at various places, including Purbachal Multipurpose Fire Service Centre, Narayanganj, Yusufganj School in Rupganj, Bayezid fire station in Chattogram and Sadarghat fire station while one person has been placed in home quarantine.

All of them are fine. Of them, 10 were declared well after doing the test twice in a row as they were found negative.

Other infected persons are being closely monitored and if their health does not improve or deteriorates, they will be kept in isolation or hospitalised if necessary.
