Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan refused to join Tamim Iqbal and three other senior cricketers on his last of the Facebook live show streak which will be broadcasted on Saturday citing personal reasons.
Tamim Iqbal revealed the reason behind Shakib’s refusal after he ended his Facebook live show with Kane Williamson on Thursday to clear the air considering there was a lot of curiosity among the fans about watching the two friends sitting together and share their experience in front of the audience as his Facebook live gained popularity in recent past.“A lot of people wanted to know why Shakib is not here,” said Tamim after his show with Kane Williamson on Thursday.
Bangladesh’s cricket is hugely indebted to the fabulous five namely Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad and Shakib Al Hasan, with the last one serving a one-year ban for failing to report corrupt approaches by the bookies.
Fans were eagerly waiting for the arrival of Shakib in the show as he had been seen in the social media platform lately while promoting Shakib Al Hasan Foundation as well as in a live program in DW Bangla last week.
“Our last show will be held on Saturday. Everyone is asking why there is no Shakib in the show. I want to clear the air about it. I had contacted him seven to eight days back as I wanted to do the last show with all the five seniors. But he is unable to participate due to some personal reasons,” said Tamim
“There is no use making a fuss out of it as people can have personal problems. I am grateful that others have agreed to do the show,” he said.
“We will do the last show on May 23 (Saturday) and hope that everyone will be with us,” he concluded.Tamim Iqbal has been creating quite the buzz in the cricketing world with his series of Facebook live videos. The left-handed opener started his series of live streams with Mushfiqur Rahim and has gone on to interview a host of current and former national team players and international players such as Faf du Plessis, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson.
In the videos, Tamim asks the players about some of their memorable moments and some interesting and fun incidents not known to the fans and the media.
Meanwhile, whether there is any restriction from ICC Anti-Corruption Unit regarding Shakib’s participation in a live show where cricketers will be available could not be found out immediately.
Shakib, during his interview with DW Bangla, said that he watches Tamim’s show but could not get hold of it live on a regular basis due to time difference between USA and Bangladesh.
Shakib is currently in USA at his father-in-law’s place to be with his wife and family. Bangladesh star all-rounder and his wife Ummey Roman Ahmed (Shisir) were blessed with another baby girl on the first day at a hospital in USA on April 24.
Shakib revealed the name of his second as Errum Hasan on his official Facebook page on Saturday.
The couple also has another daughter, Alyana Hasan, who was also born in the USA five years ago.
The southpaw is expected to return to action at the highest level of the cricket in next October.
