110 hospitals prepared for corona patients

At least 110 hospitals dedicated for treatment of coronavirus infected people are prepared across the country, including the capital, said Md Habibur Rahman Khan, additional secretary of Health and Family Welfare Ministry.

“At present, 14 government and non-government hospitals in Dhaka have been made dedicated for Covid-19 patients. At least 110 hospitals dedicated for corona patients are prepared in the country,” he said.

The health ministry official came up with the information while addressing a press briefing of the health ministry media cell at its conference room on Wednesday.

Habibur Rahman Khan, also convener of the media cell, said at the same time, a 2000-bed dedicated temporary hospital is also prepared at the International Convention City Bashundhara for coronavirus infected patients.

He said coronavirus testing facility has been expanded in the country while around 10,000 coronavirus testing are being carried out daily at 42 laboratories in the country.

The additional secretary said applying plasma therapy in treatment of coronavirus is now under trial. “The plasma therapy will be applied primary in body of 45 people as test trial,” he said.

Mentioning that production of Covid-19 treatment medicine Remdisivir has started in the country, he said Beximco pharma submitted some Remdisivir medicine to the health ministry on Thursday.
