New IGP pays courtesy call on President

Newly-appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed on Thursday paid a courtesy call on President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban in the capital.

During the call, the new IGP informed President about the different ongoing initiatives and future plans of Bangladesh Police. During his tenure, Benazir also sought President’s cooperation and guidance.

The head of the state appreciated the role of police members in the current corona situation.

President urged police members to continue their duties in this way beside general public.  Besides, he directed the newly appointed IGP to make the police more people-friendly.

Concerned Secretaries and senior police officers of the President’s Office were present in that time.

Earlier, the new IGP Benazir Ahmed paid tributes to Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and other members of the Bangabandhu family at their grave at Banani in the city.

New IGP Benazir Ahmed also paid homage to the martyred police members by placing a floral wreath at the Memorial of Liberation War at Dhaka’s Rajarbagh Police Lines in the morning.
