Bashundhara Group provides food aid for newspaper hawkers

Bashundhara Group provides food assistance for 2000 families of newspaper hawkers at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital. Bashundhara Group has extended support to the newspaper hawkers, providing them with food items amid worsening coronavirus situation in the country. 

They received combo packets of food items from the editors of newspapers under East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) on Wednesday.

Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Kaler Kantho Acting Editor Mostofa Kamal, Dhaka Sangbadpatra Hawkers’ Bahumukhi Samabay Samity President Mostafa Kamal, General Secretary Mohammad Abdul Mannan and Newspaper Hawkers Kalyan Samity General Secretary Shahab Uddin were present on the occasion.

Officials mentioned that the newspapers hawkers are playing frontline role to reach the newspapers to the readers while country is under lockdown.

Bashundhara Group, patron of East West Media Group, largest media entity in the region, has provided food supports to 2,000 families.

They combo packets, which they have received, include rice, lentil, oil and flour. The people working under, Dhaka Newspaper Hawkers Samity, Dhaka Newspaper Hawkers Welfare Samity, Bangladesh Newspaper Transportation Owners Association, Dhaka Patra Patrika Bitorankati Samity and Dhaka Bit Samity have received the food aid.

Bashundhara Group has continued food support to the underprivileged people who have become workless following the spread of coronavirus in the country.

As part of corporate social responsibility, officials and volunteers of the group went door-to-door and distributed combo packets of food among the poor people across the country.
