Bangladesh International Hotel Association (BIHA) has sought special incentive and policy support from the government to overcome loss caused by corona pandemic.

Lack of visitors has put hotel industry in a bleak state, it claimed.

A press release signed by BIHA President HM Hakim Ali said their business is seriously affected due to spread of the deadly virus globally.

Nearly 5 lakh people are employed in hotels across the country, it said, adding “At least 1 lakh staffs are at risk of either losing job or being deprived of salaries.”

Hotel is one of the sectors to have been prioritised by the government to achieve visions 2021 and 2041, the press statement said. BIHA has sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s intervention to protect the sector.
