CHATTOGRAM: The second case of coronavirus was confirmed in the port city on Sunday.

The male patient ageing around 35 years is the son of the first patient ageing 67 years and undergoing treatment at isolation ward of Chattogram General Hospital, said Chattogram Health Directorate Director Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir.

The son had been living with his father at their residence in the city’s Dampara area.

Samples of four persons including the son were collected after detection of the first case. Those were tested at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Disease (BITID) at Sitakunda upazila on Sunday, said the director.  The test result reveals corona positive for the son, he said.

The son was kept at home-quarantine and the superstore where he worked was locked-down, said sources.

The first patient was detected in the port city on Friday last.
