Three villages under lockdown in 3 dists

Local administration on Friday has put three villages of coronavirus suspects under lockdown in Jashore, Bogura and Comilla.

UNB says in Jashore: Residents of Chandpara village in Chaugachha upazila took an initiative to lock their village down in an effort to protect themselves from infection of coronavirus.

Omedul Islam, a resident of the village and general secretary of Chaugachha Press Club, said the villagers took the decision in a meeting on Thursday.

As a result, no one will be allowed to enter or leave the village until April 11, he said.

In Bogura: Local administration has put three houses at Shiali village in Dhunat upazila under lockdown after a man with coronavirus symptoms was admitted to the isolation unit of Mohammad Ali Hospital.

The local administration put the three houses under lockdown on Thursday night as safety measure, said Razia Sultana, Upazila Nirbahi Officer adding that food will be supplied to the houses.

In Cumilla: Local administration on Friday has put houses of two coronavirus suspects under lockdown in Jhograr Char and Khodedaidpur villages in Homna upazila. Homna Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tapti Chakma said both of the suspects came home from Dhaka four days ago with fever and cough.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Abdus Salam Shikder said they collected samples from the suspects for test.

One of the suspects is an employee of a hospital in Dhaka and another is a lawyer by profession, he added. Dr Mahbubur Rahman and Medical Technologist Abdullah Al Kafi collected samples from the suspects who had been suffering from fever, cough, throat-ache, the UHFPO added.
