The governing body of world football, FIFA, has permitted Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) to postpone its elections and congress until the ‘the situation regarding COVID-19 becomes normal countrywide’.

Responding to a letter from BFF on March 28, FIFA sent a letter on March 31 allowing the current executive committee of BFF to run and operate the federation.

Senior Vice-President Abdus Salam Murshedy confirmed it through video massage yesterday. General Secretary Md Abu Nayeem Shohag was also present there.

BFF elections and congress, also known as BFF Elective Congress 2020, was scheduled to be held on April 20. But the federation postponed without announcing the new dates due to the coronavirus pandemic outbreak countrywide.

The decision was made on last Friday in a virtual emergency meeting of BFF Executive Committee, chaired by BFF President Kazi Salahuddin.

The committee also extended the registration period of councilors for election from March 30 to April 7. Total number of BFF councilors is 140.
