The High Court (HC) on Wednesday observed that lockdown should be declared in the country to prevent transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19), reports BSS.

The court also advised all to follow guidelines set by the government and keep faith in it in tackling the deadly virus.

A High Court vacation bench comprising Justice Md Ashraful Kamal and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir came up with the observations while disposing of a writ filed in this regard.

“We all have to work jointly in tackling coronavirus.  We have to follow the model of Taiwan. How this country managed to tackle corona outbreak in spite of being the next door neighbor of China,” the court observed.

Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Md JR Khan Rabin filed the writ petition on March 23 and Barrister Humayun Kabir Pallab moved the writ before court.  Deputy Attorney General Pratikar Chakma argued for the state in the hearing.
