Members of the Armed Forces started work across the country on Wednesday to assist civil administrations in fighting the deadly coronavirus in the country.

Members of Bangladesh Army started their work in various districts as per the government’s decision.

They prepared lists of the coronavirus-infected people and assist the civil administrations in taking effective steps to ensure that those who returned from abroad remain in home quarantine.

Army troops will also provide medical assistance at the division and district levels, if necessary.

Members of Bangladesh Navy began their activities in 19 coastal upazilas of six districts.

A total of eight contingents of 186 naval members, including 17 officers from Khulna Naval Region, have started work after reaching the coastal Barguna Sadar, Amtali, Betagi, Bamna, Patharghata and Taltali Upazilas, an ISPR release said.

Seven contingents of the 144 naval members, including 16 officers from Chittagong Naval Region, started work ‘in aid to civil power’ at Bhola Sadar, Borhan Uddin, Daulatkhan, Char Fasson, Monpura, Lalmohan, Tajumuddin, Sandwip, Hatia, Teknaf, Kutubdia and Maheshkhali areas.

Bangladesh Air Force is conducting various activities in compliance with the policies published by the government to prevent coronavirus.

As a part of this, the corona coordination and monitoring cell has already been set up at each of the Bangladesh Air Force bases.

Members of Bangladesh Air Force are providing emergency aviation and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) support to assist the civil administration in preventing the coronavirus.

In addition, a medical team of Bangladesh Air Force is ready to provide medical assistance which will coordinate with the Armed Forces medical team whenever needed.

In the meantime, airmen of the Bangladesh Air Force Provost are providing security to quarantine passengers arriving from overseas at Dhaka’s Haji camp to prevent coronavirus infection, said an ISPR release.

At the ground level, members of the Bangladesh Air Force have been deployed in various places besides members of the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Police and other organizations as well as.

In addition, the Air Force took necessary actions, including controlling public meetings in their own area, Air Force members’ home quarantine and isolation wards in medical fleets.

On Monday, the government decided to deploy members of Army, Navy and Air Force to tackle the coronavirus situation.

Following the government’s directives, army members were sent to all the districts on Tuesday as part of the deployment. They also held coordination meetings with the local administration.

The Armed Forces members are wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) during duty.
