BGB, BSF ADG level meeting held in Jashore

BENAPOLE: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) Additional Director General (ADG) level border management meeting held on Thursday in Jashore to reduce border killing and arms and drug smuggling.

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has been assured that killing of unarmed Bangladeshis at the border will be brought to zero level.

On the first day of the border management meeting, BGB-BSF officials said at a press conference held at Jabir International, a five-star hotel in Jashore.

BGB Jashore region commander, Additional Director General Jalal Ghani Khan led an eight-member team while Inspector General of BSF South Bengal Frontier Kolkata Shri Yogesh Bahadur Korania led an eight-member delegation.

In addition to reducing unarmed Bangladeshi killings at the border zero level, arms smuggling, preventing illegal entry of citizens of both countries, construction of barbed wire fence, conducting developmental activities on the border, increasing the joint force of BGB-BSF to prevent smuggling.

BGB officials Lt Col Selim Reja said that killing at the border was the main agenda at the meeting. However, BSF officials have given us 100 per cent assurance that such killings will fall to zero.

The Indian delegation will return to Bangladesh on March 8, after the signing of several more important discussions between the delegates of the two countries from March 6, 7 and 8.

BGB Rangpur region, Additional Director General Kaiser Hasan Malek, Rangpur Sector Command, Assistant Director General of the Abu Zahid Siddique, Chittagong Sector Commander Arsaduzaman Khan, Jashore Region Assistant Director General Amirul Islam, Dinajpur Sector Commander, Assistant Director General Zahirul Haque Khan took part of the meeting.

BSF North Bengal and Guwahati Frontier IG Rajiv Ranjan Sharma, South Bengal Staff Officer Rabi Ranjan, Deputy Secretary of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was take part in the meeting.
