Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Tuesday said the national parliament will celebrate the Mujib Year in a befitting manner and with great enthusiasm.
“Apart from the special session slated to be held on March 22 and 23, the parliament will host special seminars, special publications and Shishu Mela,” she said.Shirin Sharmin made the statements when Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguli Das paid a courtesy call on the speaker at Parliament Secretariat.
“The younger generation will be inspired by this and they will gain a more transparent and profound knowledge about Bangabandhu and independence,” she added.
During the meeting, they discussed the celebration of Mujib Year and golden jubilee of independence of Bangladesh and the forthcoming visit of the Speaker to India, said a press release.
The Indian envoy said the celebrations of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the 50 years of Independence are a great honour for all Bengalis.
“The greatness of Bangabandhu is a great example and inspiration for the people of the world beyond the boundaries of Bangladesh,” she said.
Later, the Speaker met Mayor Councilor Humayun Kabir of the London Bar of Croydon.
