Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has launched a special drive to control mosquitoes in accordance with the survey conducted by Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS).
DSCC mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon launched the weeklong drive from Kalabagan Playground.The mayor said the best way to fight Aedes mosquito is to destroy the mosquito breeding grounds and city dwellers should also keep their neighborhood clean. “The City Corporation has taken all-out measures to save citizens from the menace of Aedes. As part of our effort, we are launching the drive,” he said.
He also said, “When our specials drive will end, we will request the authorities concerned to carry out a survey again. On the basis of the results of the survey, next course of action will be decided.”
During the special drive, DSCC workers will visit every house and destroy the mosquito larvae and teach inhabitants how to deal with the situation. On Sunday, DGHS in its report revealed that a team identified DNCC Wards 12, 16, 28, 31 and Uttara 4 Sector and DSCC Wards 5, 6, 11, 17, 37 and 42 as the most vulnerable to Aedes population as it has high density of Aedes population.
