No alternative to tech education: Nawfel

Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nawfel said there is no alternative to technical education for making skilled human resources as per demand of current job market in the country.

The government took various initiatives to expand the technical education, he said, urging the foreign agencies to help develop the technical education sector.

He made the remarks when a four-member delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) led by its country director Manmohan Parkash meet the deputy minister at International Mother Language Institute in the capital.  

Nawfel informed that the government will take measures for university students so that they can achieve vocational skills alongside their fixed subject education for the future knowledge-based economy.

He sought help from the ADB to increase the capability of the educational institutes for the development of the country’s technical education.

Manmohan Parkash said, “The ADB is running a number of programmes to help Bangladesh’s education sector.”

He also suggested for developing the programmes considering the experience of other countries around the world for the development of technical and vocational education.
