Criminal Zeesan’s cohort held

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained a cohort of most wanted criminal Zeesan alias Zeesan Ahmed alias Ali Akbar Chowdhury from Mohammadpur in the capital on Saturday morning, said a press release.

A team of RAB-2 held Mazharul Islam alias Shakil, 35, from a CNG-run auto rickshaw at Mohammadpur bus stand area at around 5.10am.

They also recovered two foreign made pistols, two magazines and six rounds of bullet from his possession.

Shakil acquainted with Zeesan in Dubai in 2018. On January 12, Shakil came back Bangladesh for criminal activities as per the directive of Zeesan.

Shakil involved in student politics in 2005 when he was a student of Jagannath University and participated in tender bidding from 2009.

In 2025, he had a feud with expelled Jubo League (JL) leader Khaled Mahmud Bhuyian.

In June, 2016, he was accused in the murder case of assistant secretary of Dhaka Metro South Jubo League Rajib.

Afterwards, he left for China and then Dubai in 2018.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in separate drives detained 51 people in the capital over different drugs related offences.
