A gang in police uniform led by the owner of a drug rehabilitation centre in Tongi of Gazipur abducted a man in August last year and kept the victim confined to the centre for 85 days.

The police officer believes that such crime might have been committed earlier.
“It is a new dimension of crime. The rehabilitation centres should be kept under surveillance,” he said.
According to the SP, on August 24 last year, the victim went missing after he left his residence in Gandaria of the capital.

Sub-Inspector of the PBI Dhaka Metro South Sadekur Rahman investigated the incident. With the help of technological support, police managed to know the victim’s whereabouts and rescued him.
On the day of incident, four to five men led by Kamruzzaman came to the victim at his (victim) brother’s shop on Asadullah Matubbar Road in Cherag Ali of Tongi around 10:00 am and picked him up in a black microbus, bringing an allegation that he was a militant. They took the victim to the centre and shaved his head and beard and tortured him mercilessly.
Amir Hossain and Khokon, brothers of the victim, his (victim) former wife Sheuly Akhter and a certain Mashiur Jaman ‘hired the criminals to commit the crime’.
Anwar had feud with his two brothers over share of their seven-storey building on 61 Asadullah Matubbar Road.
His former wife Sheuly wanted to take revenge on him, as he divorced her for her alleged extra-marital affair. And the victim did not get on well with Jaman.
